Basically, this is one of the few things I have control of at the moment, I have hesitated to make sales/promotions over the last few weeks because I feel that the top priorities for 9Dragons are not related to revenue. However, there is logic in doing something that would be visible to the community after you have all been coping with a myriad of issues and seen what appears to be little effort on our end to fix the issues. Not that this fixes any of the issues, far from it, but some people still are choosing to make purchases in the Item Mall and I have been planning on reducing the price on Scales and Tears for a while now. To be clear, the 20% off on Scales and Tears will likely become a permanent drop, I will officially announce if the drop is permanent in a few weeks once we have been able to study the data. Currently, I do not think the data is very accurate, as most of you are holding off purchases until the environment improves (very justified), so the official announcement will come after the major issues we are facing are behind us. Also, the discount on premium IS NOT permanent, but I do plan to keep it at 50% off until at least the second week of December...so as things improve, it would be prudent to get a 90 day premium before the sale ends

I must say, that we are doing everything possible to fix our tools for supporting the game as quickly as possible. The scale of what we are doing is immense, and once we are through the woods and these issues are behind us I will clarify what we have been doing these last few weeks. We are deeply regretful that things have been so tough on you guys under our direction, we had planned on being stable and moving the game forward significantly by this point. We do want your online game experience to be the best it possibly can be and we are all disappointed and frustrated at the current state of the game.

As tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and we have no XP events or new in-game events...there is a lot to complain about. I know I am going to get a lot of hate in this thread, from people that didn't take the time to read this post, or are just pessimistic about the future. However, you should know that this is not the way we normally operate. We love doing fun events and making promotions you get excited about, it is one of the better parts of the job to see the community happy and thankful. I do not expect you to do this, but here is a list of things I am personally thankful for.

Things I am Thankful for:

I am thankful for the support we do get from the community, even when things are bad.
I am thankful for the community members that challenge me and the company to do better
I am thankful to Indy21 for being a great partner and supporting us during these times
I am thankful to the mods who keep the forums running
I am thankful to the people that send me PMs highlighting issues, support, and ideas for improvement
I am thankful that 9Dragons is a fun game that I enjoy playing, nothing is worse than disliking the game you work on
I am thankful to my GM staff for their knowledge and dedication to the game, see you all soon!
I am thankful for my developers and IT staff who put up with my harassment all day, every day. (at least for the last few weeks)
And finally
I am thankful for my wonderful family, I am a very very very lucky man.

During my trip, Aleenia and the mods will be watching over the community, please take it easy on her, she is a delicate flower . I will continue to be active during my trip, but won't be able to post until mid-week next week (due to travel time).

Holiday Event!, Triple XP Event and IM Sale! 12/23/10 - 12/27/10

Today we are launching the Holiday Event! For this event we will be doing a TRIPLE XP (and Skill XP) event along with a Marketplace sale with the following items on sale (Until the 27th):

Normally, events like this are coupled with a Client based event that requires a patch. Unfortunately, we cannot do that this time, the test patch we received from Indy did not pass QA and we simply ran out of time to get a new one from them. I know that there are still zombies from the Halloween patch running around in game, which just adds extra /facepalm to this whole thing.

At the moment, the plan is patch as early as possible next week with a new (possibly New Years) event and brand new content for the game.

We will either take down this event on Monday the 27th, around noon, or keep the event up until we patch. Depending on your reaction to the this event, we may continue (although it will be modified) it on through the first week of January.

Unfortunately we are not going to be able to update the game to 125 today as we had hoped. During testing the TripleX core crash came up too often and we do not want to subject more players to this problem if you haven’t been getting that error previously. We hope to patch next week with an update to game content, events, and anti-hack mitigation. I am bringing the XP/Skill rates back down to the normal base rate until we patch, and we will keep the sale going until 1/10/11 (a very binary day) as well.

While this is unfortunate, it should be noted that because of enhanced testing efforts, you will be seeing fewer moderate to large scale issues in 2011. Also, we have received a content plan for 2011 and are planning around that now so we can ensure a steady stream of bug fix patches and content for the new year (we are scheduled for monthly Content update patches and bug-fix patches). So that is all good.

When we get back into the office next week, we will outline the processes for template issues (such as the “no template character available issue”) in tandem with releasing the new 125 patch.

Additional things that were in the patch was a Holiday Event, which Indy is retooling now and we will do early 2011, and a content update.

The Content update is geared more for new users, as it is a new "Newbie" area where you train from levels 0-17(ish) before getting into the clan stuff. New Town, New Quests, New Story, etc.

I've run around the area a bit, but haven't had time to fully explore it. Ill give out more information when it becomes available to me.

We will be taking the servers down in 1 hour from now for maintenance (at 4pm PST, Midnight GMT). Maintenance should only last for 40 minutes.

We are not updating to a new version during this maintenance, it is mainly for general maintenance on our end.

Yes, we will add in the XP event after the maintenance. (Double XP/Skill for the weekend)

We are starting up the XP/Skill event today as opposed to tomorrow. This is due to my own personal preference, as I will be out of the office tomorrow I want to make sure that the event got started before I leave. XP and Skill xp will be doubled until Monday around noon (PST/10PM GMT). The GMs will be around working on the template PMs/tickets/reports and stuff so feel free to hit them up in IRC or via PM if you need something.

Also, Thousand Steps is Stuck in ZZ....in order to unstick her we will need to restart the map on all three servers. This is just an FYI.

I need my IT dude to do this, and he is in a meeting at the moment, so these updates will be made within the next 1-2 hours.

Added: checked and 1000 steps is working fine....Double XP is UPPPP!

This could be the final double XP weekend we have (at least for a while) as starting next weekend we should be able to start up with Boss Spawn events with XP boosts during the events.

Hey all,

Ugh, what a week. I cannot apologize enough for the instability we have been seeing since Wednesday. The only good news about it is that the issues are on the GamersFirst side of things and Development and IT teams are working on them now. We hope to have the forums, marketplace, logins, and website all fixed up today.

The templates have all been distributed at this point. We are aware that some of the characters are bugged and need to be manually fixed by a GM. These are the characters we received from Indy21, so the bugged characters are because they came to us bugged. Now that we have our tools back, we are able to fix them for the most part, so just submit a ticket if you have ANY issue with your template character and the support team will fix the character. As a result of this, the GMs will be working this weekend to hammer out the tickets, as well as do the usual patrols for hackers/spammers/etc. I had hoped to start up the GM events this weekend, but it seems like a more prudent course of action to have them work on tickets and cheaters as opposed to running events, at least for this weekend.

So, I have put up a double XP/Skill event to go from now to TUESDAY (an extra day because of server instability). We will try for GM events, that come with XP boosts, next weekend if all goes well. Forum instabillity seems to be still around, so I hope this actually gets posted.

Attention Dragons,

This weekend we will be doing a double XP/skill XP weekend. We had hoped to be able to do the GM/Boss Spawn Events starting this weekend but the GMs are still hammering away at the Template tickets (as there are a lot of buggy templates, and we are catching up from the first round as well) and doing some really awesome work on some side projects. One of the issues with the template tickets is that it requires a lot of information from the players and *sometimes* people do not give us the necessary information in their ticket responses, so its making things drag a bit. The downtime over the week compounded matters.

Additionally, we will start a sale next week, probably after the maintenance on wednesday/thursday morning. If you have any requests for sale items, now is the time to suggest. The Seperators/Detachers are already slated to go on sale next week, I was going to cherry pick some other items based on popularity, but if you want to suggest some items you would like a discount on, feel free to do so and Ill do what I can .

The XP has been set! The event will end on Monday 4/25/11 (25/4/11 for the EU)

Poor General Wei was moving his cache of items and weapons to a new, safer location recently when a sudden thunderstorm broke out and caused the horses carrying the cache to run in every direction. This caused his beloved treasure boxes to be scattered all over The Land.

General Wei and his Minions plan to meet first before spreading out to the rest of The Land. The evil General and his followers will congregate in Bloody Plains on each server during the Event Times per server (noted below). You can create parties to help yourself and other to gain rewards from the bosses invading Bloody Plains.

True General Wei has a called his army to invade more than just Bloody Plains however. He and his lieutenants will be scouring all areas of The Land looking for their lost treasure boxes. So you never know when and where you will come across his army or his missing Treasure.

The bosses can spawn at any time on any map. The times listed are the scheduled spawns, but that is only a small part of the event.

But tbh i didnt see other bosses spawn in other maps except Shen Mo, although someone said 1 TGW spawned in Ice, dunno who got.

This weekend we will be running the double XP event, due to popular demand from the community and while we plan for new boss spawn/box drop/GM events in general. This part of the event has already started, many of you may have already noticed . The only notable change to this event is that we will be stopping the event on Sunday as opposed to Monday. So be sure to take advantage of it this weekend!

Additionally, we are going to start experimenting with new Buffs (as we have a ton of these, but have only used CoS up to now). This weekend's buff is the (New Years) Berserk Buff. We will be adding the buff's to the servers at the following times:

Finally,
The Huatuo's Panacea item is totally overpriced, So I will be reducing the price from 548 G1C down to 250 G1C. As of now, this will be a permanent price drop. I am also considering adding Huatuo's Panacea to the premium packages. I think we can all agree that this item is useful, but too expensive to be enticing.

I have also been working on some general price drops in the IM, but I will post more about that when the time comes.
