    hyp:

    Hey all,

For this weekend, starting within the next hour or so, we will do a double XP and skill XP event! Horray! The event will end on Monday, noonish (pst).

Also, with the NEXT patch, along with new content and bug fixes, there is the Holiday event that Indy prepared for over a month ago but we couldn't release do to the 125 patch integration. It features a certain Jolly Fat Man in a Red Suit, now, from my perspective, its worth having this event because everyone loves the holidays, but it is certainly out of place timing wise.

Does this bother you? I hope not, but if you guys do not want the Holiday event because its been delayed so long, then I can talk to Indy about it. Although, Indy21 will be out of the office for most of next week due to Lunar New Year celebrations, so even if you did want it out, it would probably be impossible because they won't be around much next week to make new patches for me. :-\

Following the holiday event, there will be a Lunar New Year event, along with (I think) an update to the Strategist Skills (I believe this is coming, but need updates from my localization team and Indy to be sure, I will keep you updated).

I know the crash hack is really affecting the game right now. I am in talks with Indy on how we can repair it ASAP.

Thanks all and have a great weekend!

sounds good, now lets hope everything goes as planned.

So, we have an issue with the 126 version we are testing and will not be patching today. It is possible that we will patch up to 126 this week, but we'll need some assistance from indy. That normally wouldn't be a problem, as indy would fix it and send back a new one...however, Korea is on vacation until the 7th for Lunar New Year .

There are several bug fixes, as well as new content and the belated holiday event in this patch...so its important we get it up ASAP. Ill keep you updated here until we get this patch out...tomorrow I plan to list the bugs that were fixed and hopefully get an ETA for when we will patch.

Update (2/3/11): We heard back from Indy21 while they are on vacation. Unfortunately the error is something they need to fix and their team will not be in the office until monday. So the earliest we will be able to patch is Tuesday next week. There might be another delay if we uncover any new critical bugs as result of a new the new patch build. Sorry for the delay.

[Tome] Antidote of Cave, Peng You Lightfoot

The tome [Tome] Antidote of Cave and its skill seems to be broken since patch 125.
Yes, that's true. The skill was replaced to a skill which does not work yet properly. This does not only anger the vagabonds, but also the clan members, because the Peng You Lightfoot was learnable for everyone.

How Hyperion, the community liaison, said:

    QUOTE (Hyperion @ Jan 14 2011, 03:14 PM)
Just a heads up, we are aware of this (of course) and have reported it to Indy for fixing. The GM/QA team is preparing a big list of the most important issues for Indy to fix that I will probably send out over the weekend. Clearly the vagabonds need their lightfoot back ASAP.

    About Peng You Lightfoot
The first introduction of this skill was for Acclaim's "Invite Friends" Event. If somebody successfully invited a friend through the special Invite-Friend link one could get the skill which was a Cheng 12 Peng You Lightfoot for only one day.

Later, either at Acclaim's patch 98, 99 or 100, the Flame Sword of Wu-Tang mobs in the second floor of The Cave of The Conqueror were able to drop Choice of Fate and Valley of Hell clothes, Dragon Herbs, the item [Tome] Antidote of Cave and a few several other weird items. This tome was able to teach everyone the skill "Peng You Lightfoot", even to clanless vagabonds which were until then just able to use the Wu-Tang's and Heavenly Demon's Basic Lightfoot's. It was first found out by a few vagabonds which searched for some rumors and found out where to find it. Many of them belonged to the first vagabond guild ever, the meanwhile non-existent Vagabond Army. They spread the word out then to the community, but sadly the tomes were traded later so high, that almost no young vagabond was able to afford this tome.

However, the 9Dragons community wanted this skill to stay, so Acclaim decided back then that this skill shall stay in-game. After the move to GamersFirst, it was only a matter of time that Indy21, the developer of 9Dragons, would replace this skill to the skill it should have been, like it happened in the korean version too.

The original skill is a self-buff, a resistance against the poison of The Cave of The Conqueror.

    Guesses

Now, Hyperion wants Indy21 to give us the Peng You Lightfoot skill back again, but that might be fixed different by Indy21. I know nothing about that at all, so it's only a guess. My guess is, they will fix the self-buff from the tome to the skill it was supposed to be, and implement the Peng You Lightfoot as a new item.

    Remember, it's only a guess.

    Summary

If it was too complicated, all that text about weird shields and foots and stuff: Yes, it will be fixed.

Although hyperio sai that it will be fixed, ignore 'legend', I personally found him ok in old days but now it seems he just loves to see what he has wrote and i'm pretty sure in real life loves the sound of his own voice.

Legend just try's to justify his IGN, Prime example is above "It was first found out by a few vagabonds which searched for some rumors and found out where to find it. Many of them belonged to the first vagabond guild ever, the meanwhile non-existent Vagabond Army". This guys says him and his 'league' were among the first to find it, which may be true, but how is that relivant to any kind of fix?

    Hey all,

This is just a short update as I havent been able to post on the forums this week yet. I've been spending most of the time I have for the forums answering PMs. I've managed to get my box cleared out every day, but that has been eating up all my time posting to the community as a whole. :-\

Anyway, it looks like we WILL be patching up to the 126 tomorrow...which is fantastic for a lot of reasons. First, it will finally remove the Halloween Event (so you should get rid of any pumpkins and candles you have ASAP).

Second, It will introduce the Christmas (Holiday) event that we weren't able to get in in time for the holiday season. Xmas decos, give-aways, auto buffs on the weekend, santa quests, etc are all in this event . (It is kind of lame that we are having a christmas event in Feb. I know...but I figured it was better than NOT having the event at all, you will get 2 holiday events for 2011 though)

Third, it will fix many bugs. Including the random "i got disconnected/logged out and when I came back all my items/skills/quests etc..." bug. This bug is apparently just a visual bug, and the characters affected by it still have all their items and stuff, but the bug makes it so you cannot see them in your menus.

Fourth, New content will be added. Specifically a new tutorial/starting zone for the game.

I am still building the full patch-notes, which will include the list of bugs fixed and details on all this stuff.

Finally, and the only bad part of the news, was that Indy was supposed to include a fix to the crash bug that happens when players open stands with certain characters in the text. QA informed me this bug is still around, even though it was presumed fixed.

Mods, please do not pin this, ill update again tomorrow with a go/nogo for the patch, and notes if we are go

Sooo There you go New events.. new starter map.. some bugs fixed..
lets see if this is true or not ^^

    From Hyperion:-

Sigh... Indy21 sent us another test version last night instead of a Live release candidate. This means that the patch we have can only be applied to the test server. So we cannot patch today and this week as a result. I honestly don't know what to say...this is the 7th version of the 126 client we have tested now. So we are taking the opportunity to double up on QA on this one and make sure that they bugs they fixed are actually fixed and the new content and events are working properly.

I am very sorry, as well as very disappointed. We requested the Live version and were looking forward to patching out the Crashing Stand bug (Indy said they fixed it, but my QA team is skeptical) and the inventory bug among several other bugs, and getting in the new content while releasing a new event and getting rid of Halloween.

When we finally patch, early next week, I will hook up some added XP and Promotion/Sale events for a longer period of time.

For now, all I can do is start the weekend event early. So enjoy the double xp until Monday, and we WILL get this live as soon as possible next week.

    Thanks all Sad

    From Hyperion:-

    UPDATE 2/17/11:

Well, we are having some additional technical difficulties with the Server. However, the good news is that our latest test patch did work better and cleaner than the previous 7 iterations of the Patch. There is an issue with "Character Delete" not working, but that is something we can fix before we patch live.

So we are looking to Patch tomorrow morning (PST, 10-noonish, should only be down for 1-2 hours) if all goes according to plan now. Normally we do not like to patch on Fridays as it is Indy's Saturday and if something messes up and we need them it can take longer to get a response from them. However, they are aware of this and my contact will be on-call if anything comes up.

Worse case scenario is that we will patch early next week (boy am I tired of saying this), if thats the case...then Ill kick up the XP Rate for the weekend to Triple XP as opposed to double.

    For the Templates:

I know its been taking a long time, but we did make some progress last night in that we got a response from Indy for my Developer team to use in their development of the tools necessary for these functions.

The SECOND I have a real ETA for when we will start handing out the I post post a bug shiny update here on the Forums about it.

As you know, we have been grinding away on getting out patch 126. We have hit "numerous" road blocks up to now and this week has been no different. Indy has changed a lot of client and backend things to fix the dozens (if not hundreds) of bugs we have reported. 126 is not a "this will fix everything" patch, but it will certainly fix a lot of bugs, as well as add new content and events. I am hopeful we can launch it tomorrow, but I've been burned before, so I am not committing to patching tomorrow but saying that it is my personal and deepest hope that we can.

Also for the templates, we have had to completely reverse engineer the 9Dragons tools in order to make them work with our network (as well as fix many other things). At a point, my Dev team was stumped on how to proceed as Indy does things differently than we are used to when it comes to game level coding. That can be said about all of our developers, and all developers in general as each game is coded differently. So we have requested an "information dump" from them, and until we get that, my Developers are unable to proceed further than they have to get the tools we need to inject the template characters....as well as in-game items, epis, quests ETC...all the things the 9D tool can do needs to be understood by my team in order to get those tools in my and the GMs hands. Once this is done though...it will be SICK....the GMs will be able to restart maps if they collapse (as opposed to having to have an IT guy do it) and all the tickets in the queue will be emptied out.

This is basically the same update i've been saying for a while, generally individually in PMs. So a while back, i was getting a ton of complaints that I don't answer PMs, so i've been doing this for the last couple of weeks and its been a challenge to stay on top of it...I did some math (EEP!) for a player explaining why i've been seemingly AFK from the forums...I haven't been AFK, I've just been using my time for the forums on my PMs or else they get unmanagable. Basically, if I get 40 PMs a day (which is about average...except on the weekends which the rate increases and as I don't work on the weekends generally, they build up) and spend 5 minutes per PM (again this is about average as a lot are around 2 minutes, but some requires 30+ minutes) then it would take me 3.33 hours per day just to stay even. This is actually a very conservative estimate, I tend to think I spend longer than 5m on most PMs, I like to talk with players so I get chatty. 3.33 hours is more than a third of my total time in the office (generally), and my production tasks/manager tasks must be done, there is no compromising production stuff. So I apologize for AFKness, but really I am forced to allocate my time away from posting at least until the game is in better shape and we do not have to continually test and send back the same patch over and over again.

I would request that you do not PM me unless you have something for me that is something only I can take care of...these are not many things...most issues can be resolved (or at least make us aware of them) by submitting tickets. I do like random banter though...so you can PM me personal thoughts/concerns/issues etc.

I've been answering the "ETA for Templates?" question a lot. Well I don't have one until we hear back from Indy, and my Dev team understands what they need us to do. When I do have a REAL ETA for the templates, and patch...I will post here a thread regarding it. Most of the people in the second round of template distribution have given all the information we need, so we are just waiting on the tools that will allow us to inject the characters to the accounts.

Everyone cross your fingers for 126. I'm off to go try to test it on the test server...last time I did this is ruined my LIVE client so I'm a little worried about it.

A promo will happen when we patch:
    30% off 7/30/90 Day Premiums
    25% off Item/EXP cards
    40% off Jade Separators
    30% off Scales and Tears

    Update: 2/28/11

    Good News Dragons!

Just got word from the QA team that the initial Pass of the newest version of 126 is looking good. That means that we are very likely going to patch tomorrow afternoon . I am checking with my IT team as to when is a good time as things get REALLY crazy during GDC especially for the IT team as they have to solve issues both at our headquarters and our team in San Francisco. As I am up north for the conference, I am working remotely and will not be around much this week to talk on the forums and PM's...however I will manage the patch from here as the IT and QA teams are prepping everything today.

I will post the patch thread (for you to spam on) with the patch notes tomorrow before we go down for maintenance.

    Have a great Day all!

P.S as a small bonus, for being so patient and understanding, I will leave the double XP up until we patch tomorrow
