upcoming patches

This is just a notice to let you all know that we will be starting the double XP weekend within the next hour or so. This event will end on Monday (PST), along with the sale.

As for updates, we are working on getting another bug fix patch (Version 127) within the next 2 weeks for you all. This patch should remove the Christmas event as well, so be sure to get all your goodies from Santa before the next version comes.

Finally, a bit off topic, I've been a little distracted this week with tech stuff and things that need to be done on the backend of 9D. We have been translating the documents from Indy21 for the tools and are working on getting some additional machines set up in the office to begin template injections for the second round. I will let you know via a post here when we can begin moving again on the second round of template injections.

Also, a moment to acknowledge the devastating tsunami and earthquake that caused massive destruction in Japan and in the surrounding countries. We are even getting warnings here in Orange County about the waves coming in. We live on a complex planet, and there are surely people within the sound of my soapbox here that are affected themselves or have family affected by this. Be strong Dragons, we off our condolences, and hope that no one in the community is seriously affected by the earthquake.

Here is the response from Indy about the healer skills:

We are planning on updating the new contents(healer skills and SUPER SECRET EDIT) right after the patch no. 127.
Once the patch 127 is released, then we will send you a test data for the new update.

So the answer is that the healers are getting updated in Version 128. 127 is a bug fix patch plus updates to the back end.

Tomorrow we are planning to patch the game up to 127 (Patch notes to come tomorrow for specifics).This is a bug fix patch (so no new content), and it will remove the Christmas event (because its march). So be sure to get all of Santa's Chores done and turned in as soon as possible, because Christmas 2 is almost over!

The patch times will be different starting with 127, we will begin patching later in the evening around 8-9 PM (PST)/ 3-4AM (GMT). This is because there are fewer players on at this time, and we will be able to work with Indy21 more directly if bad things happen. I'm not 100% sure on the time at the moment, I am waiting for my IT team to get back to me on the times...we could very possibly move the times back even further into the night as well. Ill let you know tomorrow.

Also, because this will surely come up, we should be getting our tools back any day now. Once we do, we will start on the template distribution. I will post an update specifically on this, when we are ready to go with the tools again.

UPDATE: 3/24/11

Ok, so bad news/good news.

The Bad News is that we need to postpone the patch until next week. Resources on our end are overwhelmed with work this week because of our other titles and some new IPs we may be getting soon (OMG!). We have some loose ends to tie up that will require several team members to get together and share some information that no one has time for this week.

The Good News is that we will start the XP event early (today, ill send out the request now) and it will go through Monday. So an extra day of double XP as we are not patching today.

Double XP for the weekend (not triple) because we wanted to patch first before we do a triple xp weekend event. So maybe we'll do the Triple XP event next weekend.

Template Update:

Well, we are about to begin the restoration process of the second round of template characters (finally)! We will begin this either tomorrow, or monday, depending on what kind of events we decide to do for this weekend.

The process itself should take between 8-15 days, depending on circumstances that pop up in between. We will be going through the massive list we have, and doling out characters based on the information you have provided.

There are a couple of caveats that are worth noting. The 9Dragons team and I met a while ago regarding the number of people that claimed multiple high level templates. There were quite a few people that did this, either on one account, or over many accounts. The consensus was that we have to limit the amount of templates we give to individuals, and in some cases edit the levels of the claims.

Of the 3000+ template characters that were claimed, at least 500 were removed entirely and a handful (>50) of levels were changed. There was no good way to do this, so it was done manually by me, using my highly developed "BS" detector. This is not something that I wanted to do, it is in my best interest to give away as many of these templates as possible...because the more we give out, the more committed the player is to their characters, and the more committed they are to purchasing things for their characters. So, just to stem the rage of "OMG G1 DIDN'T GIVE ME THE 8 LEVEL 200 CHARACTERS I CLAIMED....I MISS ACCLAIM".

I took note of some of the edits I made so that I could show you the logic that I used to make the cuts. Most game managers probably wouldn't share this with you, because it opens me up to attacks on logic from the community, but honestly, I am less concerned with secret knowledge than most. We are allowing 2 (and only 2) template characters to be given per person, and did the best we could to find the people that claimed multiple characters from multiple accounts. As with everything though, some people will have gamed the system and come up. But we'll get you sooner or later, enjoy your victory for today.

I tried to keep things balanced, as best as possible, in most cases removing the claims for the lowest level accounts, or removing one character with the same role as another that is getting restored. For instance:

* someone claimed a 145 (White Clan) Nuker, a 112 (White Clan) Nuker, and a 128 (Black Clan) Warrior. I removed the 112 nuker, as the person is already getting a higher level white clan nuker.
* another persona claimed 4 characters: 126, 118, 95, 95. As we are only allowing 2, I removed the 118 and one of the 95's based on their clan/role/sex.
* Another person claimed 8 high level characters: 200,194,192,192,185,183, 165. I called BS on this and deleted 6 of the requests entirely and lowered the level of the 2 remaining templates down to around 150/140.



Chances are, a lot of legitimate claims are not going to get what they wanted/expected. And that is sad and I wish I could have avoided doing it this way. Honestly the only way we could have done it differently is if we had the DB from Acclaim, and if we had that, then none of this would have been necessary at all. So I apologize if you were as honest as possible and made the list of cuts. After we complete the second round, I will open up an appeal process to me, via the forums or tickets for you to state your case if you were denied a character that was meaningful to you.


Hack site = Destroyed

A "popular" black market site was taken down today by the hosting company that provided them with the server space. Additionally, we were able to trace a few hundred accounts connected to that site...and well, I suppose it goes without saying that we BANNED THEM ALL TO HELL.

I am certain that most of those characters/accounts we traded there on that site, and other accounts were ones the owner of the site had ready for sale to nublets that buy that stuff. So, a lot of people are going to be submitting tickets about "wrongful bans". Well, Ill shed a few tears for your poor character that was illegally acquired, but thats about it. We will not tolerate reselling our accounts and characters.

Finally, we got some new doodads to track hackers. So, more and more bans will be handed out. Keep in mind we are striving to get to the "1 Strike" policy on hacking. So if you hack, you WILL get banned.

As you all are aware, we have started restoring the template characters for those who claimed characters recently. A few things that you need to keep in mind are that this process will take sometime so you all will need to be patient while each character is being manually injected. You will not receive the exact levels of characters that you had claimed for, as Hyperion mentioned on his post.

Now for players who have received their characters and have class, party or gender issues please send in a ticket to 9Dragons Support with the full character information so that we can make the necessary changes immediately.

We will inform all the players via the forum ones we are done with the entire character restoration. After this if you have still not received a character which you had claimed for recently you can send in a ticket.

Tonight we will be patching up to version 128. Version 128 is a very small patch mainly for server updates on our end, however we did get the Christmas Deco fix in there. So those of you that have the santa costume that was suddenly changed to a different deco after the 127 patch will have your deco restored back to its Christmas greatness.

The Skills for Strategist will be coming in the next version 129, we are already working on this version so the QA process has become a lot more fluid as of late.

The Templates list for the second round have been steadily worked on this week, and the team is way ahead of schedule. It is possible it will be finished by tomorrow! That is, of course, not counting the templates that get bugged when the player provides us incorrect information (such as what character to overwrite), although, in fairness, we did encounter some errors that were our fault as well and we could not have known that overwriting male characters with female templates (or vice versa) would cause a bugged character.

Otherwise, I have been working on a lot of promo code promotions today and this week. Some of them have been specific for players in certain categories (such as people that claimed a character for restoration but it did not meet the level requirements, or something like players that have not logged in 90+ days) and we have another universal code coming to you all shortly, hopefully for the weekend.

Patch 129 Notes

Greetings Dragons!

We are pleased to announce the patch to version 129 will be going live tonight at 8:30pm (PST)/ 3:30am (GMT), the server downtime should be between 1-2 hours.

This patch contains the updated skills for healers, these "Formation" skills are particularly useful in groups, so be sure to party up with your friends and Hero Band to maximize their effect.

Also in this patch are some minor random content updates, bug fixes, and secret back-end changes that won't affect normal gameplay…abnormal gameplay is another story though .

Due to the massiveness of the testing of these new skills, we could not test them fully before launching this patch (unless you want to wait a few months to release the patch), however the version has passed all major functionality checks. Healers, if you encounter a bug, please let us know by submitting a ticket or posting it in the bug report forum.

Here is a full list of the changes. I will leave this post closed for now and it will be opened when the servers go down for discussion, feel free to discuss these changes in separate topics until the servers go down.

Content:

· New skill bar which can be enabled from the Options menu. [Currently there is an issue where the option label does not show up in the menu but there is a check box in the Game Setting option under Refuse duels]

· New skills for Healers of all Clans along with respective Mastery Skills.

· New button in the Inventory to Sort the items in the following order Weapons -> Clothes –> Potions –> Elixir –> Resource –> Quest –> Accessory –> Socket –> Box-Key with the stronger weapons getting higher priority in the sort order.

· Updates to PvP Event: Conqueror's Brazier will appear after General Wei has died.

· The players who don't join the battle in bloody plain cannot enter General Wei's cave.

· New quests are available for Healers above level 60.


Note to Strategist (Healers): At level 60, you can receive a mastery pill after finishing new Quests. Imperial (White) clans can receive 'Fate of Zhuge' quest in Jinan, Infernal's (Black) clans can receive 'Fate of Sima' in Datong.

Other players can do the quest, but only strategies are enabled to do final step of the quest and receive the reward.

Bug Fixes:
· Event Message poping up with no event – Fixed

· Resource window bug –fixed

· Multiple text glitches throughout The Land are fixed

· Added scrollbar in the purchase inventory for the power spenders <3

· Random crash fixed

· FPS in Hefei improved

· Quest "RTE - Provisions equal prevention" - removed temporarily to investigate the bug that caused it to remain unfinished. This quest should be abandoned if you are in progress on it.

· Updates to Launcher – Launcher version number is replaced with the client version number

· Updates to new skill bar (bug found during internal QA)

Known Issues with this patch
· Text missing in the Item descriptions for many skills and mastery skills.

· Missing label for the extra skill bar in the options menu

I don't know since when they added this cos I've not traded passes for a long time but it's a great feature

This is found at pass merchant (did not check LD, but this is at Ice Palace). Click on this button without description and it checks how many passes you can change in total and does it one shot for you.

In below case, I click on it and it shows 50 and I click Confirm and I got 50 passes

ooh Cool... My Friend almost broke his Mouse and Finger when i asked
him to exchange 2k Antlers and 3.5k NSIP for Passes xD

I also just realised that I don't need to remove all my items that I want to repair.
I clicked Repair All as usual and everything (including what I was wearing) was reflected in the repair window and repaired.
Maybe it was there for some time and I didn't realise it hehehehe
